geoRASTER

Thematic Map Rasterization

geoRASTER combines geospatial data layers of polygons, points and lines and outputs PNG image tiles. These tiles can be used as the basis for your own custom web mapping application, or as a semi-transparent overlay on top of Google MapsTM or Windows Live MapsTM.

Custom Web Mapping Application Tiles
When used as the basis for your own custom web mapping application, geoRASTER can help you create a strong service differentiator from others offering simple mashups, and can be fully customized to match your product look and feel - with your custom watermark for added security.

Reporting Overlay Tiles
geoRASTER can render semi-transparent tile overlays that can be combined with any existing web mapping application. Similar in concept to geoHEAT, geoRASTER can be used as a powerful data visualization tool that helps end-users see how varying geographic regions contrast or compare, based on a user definable metric. Create your own color legend and begin offering reports for geographic analysis beyond anything possible with traditional pushpins and markers. Also, combine with geoQUERY to allow your end user to dynamically apply filters to your base data set allowing unlimited vectors of analysis rendered in real-time.

let us help you get started with geoRASTER.

High Level Features:

  • Leverages the flexibility of the geoMANAGEMENT platform to allow you to combine layers of geospatial data and the visualization parameters for each geographic feature.
  • Control every aspect of the rendering from the labels, border widths and alpha levels to the color scheme of each feature.
  • Apply your own watermark to your tiles to protect your investment.
  • Leverage the geoQUERY API to get real-time renderings of dynamic dimensions of your defined layer.
  • Purchase archives of rendered tiles to host on your own servers, or purchase by area and zoom level.
  • Use the geoRaster server API to get high-speed tile delivery from our load balanced server farm.
  • Combine with open source OpenLayers and GeoAMP's geoCODE API to eliminate reliance on Google Maps or Windows Live Maps completely.
  • Get professional services and implementation from GeoAMP starting at $90/hr

SAMPLE OUTPUT
EXAMPLE IMPLEMENTATION: ChooseRenewables.com

Thematic map showing varying wind regimes. Each color on the map represents a different wind power class, and combined with a pushpin application and geoQUERY, the pushpin can be moved around the map. A calculation is made to show potential gains for switching to renewable energy.
EXAMPLE IMPLEMENTATION: GeoAMP Demo

Thematic map showing varying police beats in the Washington DC area. In an example application scenario an analyst could look at the police department as a whole or (as seen in the screenshot to the left) combined with geoQUERY the analyst could focus on specific police beats individually in the reporting, and highlight the selected areas on the map.

PRICING   (CPM = Cost Per Thousand)
GeoAMP offers geoRASTER services in two formats: geoRASTER real-time API, and archive delivery. The geoRASTER real-time API is a good solution if you want to do dynamic rendering using the geoQUERY API, or if you are not set up to host potentially billions of image tiles on your servers. The archive delivery option is good if you have the capacity to host all of the image tiles you might need for your application, and if you will not be needing the dynamic rendering.

The number of image tiles required per zoom level can be calculated with this simple formula: (number of tiles) = (2 ^ zoom) ^ 2. However, keep in mind that many applications don't need worldwide coverage, and so a subset of the number in that calculation is usually required.
